Matt Davis
Head Coach - 1st Season
Matt Davis begins his first season in charge of the Oaks men's basketball program and second on the bench for the 2009-10 campaign. After more than 20 years of coaching at the prep and junior college levels in the Sacramento area, Davis made the move to the four-year college level before the 2008-09 season.
Davis coached high school basketball in Sacramento for 10 years before spending 13 years as an assistant at American River College, winning three league titles and finishing in second place four times. He began his coaching career in 1984 at the prep level, spending a decade between Vacaville, Center, Christian Brothers and Nevada Union high schools, and spent summers coaching travel all-star teams that competed internationally. Additionally, Davis helped develop, coordinate and run the Santa Clara Big Man School with then Santa Clara University Head Coach and current Stanford University Associate Head Coach Dick Davey.
A Palo Alto, Calif., native and Cubberley High grad, Davis earned his BA in Communications Studies at UC Santa Barbara before earning a Teaching Credential and Master's in English from Sacramento State. He lives with his wife, Jodi, while his daughters, Sarah and Allison, attend Westmont College and Azusa Pacific, respectively.
