The Oaks led the Northwest Conference and finished fourth nationally with an average of 16.0 yards per punt return. The Oaks ranked 8th nationally in punt returns and 9th in kickoff returns in 2001. Under Coach Guidici's tutelage, Menlo's Special Teams has 39 blocked kicks since 1996.
Coach Guidici's coaching resume includes stints with the San Jose SaberCats (1996-1998), Oakland Raiders (1995), Stanford University (1993-1994), Santa Clara University (1990-1992), and his alma mater, Blackford High School (1984-1989). Menlo's 26-point comeback to defeat NCAA Division II Humboldt State 36-29 in overtime remains Coach Guidici's greatest coaching highlight. In that contest, the 2001 Oaks erased a 26-0 deficit to knock off the Lumberjacks on the road.
