Freshman John Paine continued his strong season last week with road games at Vanguard and Arizona Christian. Paine began the week with a 14-point, five rebound effort against Vanguard where he shot nearly 50% from the field and ended the week with one of his best offensive performances of the year against Arizona Christian. In Saturday’s game, Paine scored 21 of the team’s 46 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had a steal. He was 50% from the field and played 31 minutes off the bench.

What brought you to Menlo College?
My recruiting visit went very well with Coach Aiona and the team. I enjoyed meeting the team and staying with Ben Graham and Mikey Eggleton for a night. I heard from students first hand about the path of success that Menlo puts students on.

How long have you been playing your sport, and how did you get into it?
I have been playing all my life. My three older sisters played so I wanted to play as well.

What is your favorite part about being a student-athlete?
The challenge of managing my time.

If you were to travel anywhere in the world on a free, week-long vacation, where would you go?
Lake Tahoe, California

What is your least favorite meal at the caf?
Let's get rid of tofu.
