Maggie McDonald had a breakout week for the Oaks form her outside hitter position and has been named the first Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2017-18 season. The San Mateo native helped the Oaks to a three-win week, highlighted by the first GSAC win of the season on Saturday over William Jessup and a 25-kill effort in a non-conference win over Pacific Union. When and why did you begin playing your sport?
I started playing on a competitive team when I was 9 because my older sister played and my other 2 siblings were big in softball and baseball so I wanted to do something different.
What made you decide to come to Menlo College?
Menlo College found me and when I came on my visit it seemed like a place I could call home that wasn't far from the place I actually grew up.
What is favorite part about playing your sport?
My favorite part about the sports is the feeling you get when you get an awesome kill and the second you land everyone is just cheering and excited for you.
How many bowls of cereal do you eat a day?
Probably 5, but I mix it up. My favorites are: Captain Crunch, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Frosted Flakes, and Coco Puffs.
