Rasay, a Kailua-Kona, Hawaii native, will step into the large shoes vacated by coaching legend Bill Imwalle, who led Menlo to five California Pacific Conference championships over the last six seasons and posted a .623 winning percentage in 10 years leading the Oaks.

"We are extremely fortunate and proud to announce Daniel Rasay as our next head volleyball coach," Menlo College Athletic Director Keith Spataro said. "Daniel represents everything that is good about athletics and we look forward to seeing him lead our program into the future."

With Rasay in the fold, Menlo's strong ties to the Hawaiian Islands are sure to remain. Rasay stayed home following a standout prep career and enjoyed a successful four years as a key cog for the University of Hawaii's volleyball squad. As a freshman, Rasay came off the bench and led the Warriors to a four-set victory over Penn State in the 2002 NCAA Tournament semifinals with 21 assists. Hawaii went on to the win the national championship, though it was later relinquished due to the Warriors use of an ineligible player. Rasay would close out his career as a team captain as a senior in 2005.

Once his playing days came to a close, Rasay made a quick and successful switch to the coaching ranks. Rasay spent three years as the head coach at Mills College - one of Menlo's Cal Pac foes - from 2006-08 before joining the staff at Stanford. He also spent eight years as a staff coach at the Guy Enriques Team Camp and coaches 16- and 17-year-olds for Core Volleyball Club in Pleasanton.

"I am excited for the opportunity to be a part of such a storied program, department, and institution as a whole," Rasay said. "I hope to build on the past success of the program and take it to the next level. With the time I have already spent on campus with student-athletes, athletics staff, and faculty, I know that Menlo College is a great place and I look forward to the exciting times ahead."

Rasay earned three letters in volleyball and two in track at Konawaena High in Kealakekua, Hawaii on the Big Island.
