Joey Martinez enters his fourth year as Head Men's Wrestling Coach of his alma mater, Menlo College.  He served as an assistant coach for four years prior to taking over the reigns of the men's wrestling program in the 2009-10 season.  In three years under Martinez, three Oaks grapplers have earned NAIA All-American recognition, while an impressive eight have taken home sports on the NWCA/NAIA All-Academic Team. 

Martinez is set to be inducted into the Menlo College Athletic Department's Hall of Fame Class of 2012 on the weekend of October 19^th-20^th, 2012.  During his playing days, spanning from 2001-02, Martinez had a career as two-year career as good as any.  The Turlock native was a two-time NAIA All-American and a two-time Menlo College Team MVP.  Prior to Menlo, Martinez wrestled for Skyline Junior College where he shined as a two-time Junior College State Champion, going 61-0 to establish a new COA state record.  He currently holds numerous records at both Skyline and Menlo.    

Martinez graduated from Menlo College in 2003 with a degree in Psychology.  A native of Turlock, CA, he currently resides in Redwood City.
