April Montgomery is set to join Head Coach Dan Noel’s coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2015-16 season. Montgomery’s background includes successes both as a coach and competitor over the last 10 seasons. Her coaching experience has spanned the past five years at Crystal Springs Uplands where she has served as assistant cross country and track & field coach. In cross country, her teams competed at the CIF championships each year she coached. On the track side, she acted as primary coach for middle distance runners, sending several of her athletes to the section championships. Her competitive resume includes stints at Sonoma State (2005-07) and California State University – Stanislaus (2007-10). Her 2006 season at Sonoma State netted her a number of honors and awards including: CCAA Co-Freshman of the Year, Academic All-American, Most Valuable Player and Freshman of the Year. At CSU Stanislaus, she was the CCAA runner up in the 800m and the team’s Most Valuable Player for Cross Country in 2008 and would go on to win the CCAA in the 800m in 2009. In that same year, Montgomery competed at NCAA Nationals in the 800m. She graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2010. Since graduating, she has continued to compete both on the track and in club cross country meets with Strava TC. She competed in both the 2010 National Club Cross Country and 2011 National Club Track and Field Championships.
